Expert consultation on gender-environment statistics

UN Environment and the International Union for Conservation of Nature organized a high-level side event discussion on The Value of Gender-Environment Statistics to Propel SDG Action: Key progress, lessons learned and challenges remaining to close the data gap, during the Sixty-Second Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, held on Monday, 12 March 2018 at the United Nations Head quarters. The key objectives of this side event was to promote the overall importance of supporting and developing national level gender-environment statistics and gathering valuable information that can be incorporated into the lessons learned through this project. The audience predominantly comprised of gender experts and women’s rights advocates, Member States, UN entities and civil society, from a variety of levels and sectors, this event provided a valuable opportunity to advance discussions around the importance of the gender-environment nexus and the value of gathering data in this field. Attendees learned more about the gender-environment nexus and how they can contribute to closing data gaps within their own work, at international, national and local levels.
